It has been two weeks since Elijah learned 'Ten Little Indians'. He has since tackled six more songs to "perfection"! (Not in the "technique" department! But that is improving as his songs become more technically challenging.) I have set up a portable 61-note keyboard in our family room, away from my studio piano, for him to take turns playing with Bonnyeclaire and for him to play while we are teaching. (She still wants to be doing whatever he's doing and screeches when I take her away!)
He is not getting as frustrated when something is tough at first.
The latest song he "performed" on the piano today, Lightly Row, is quite a bit more complex than the earlier songs, and he really showed a lot of patience and perseverance until he started to get good at it.
He is very proud of himself! He played it for everyone within earshot all afternoon, sometimes pretty fast. I'm going to have to start calling it his "song of the day" because, now that he's accomplished this one, he'll be eager to tackle another one tomorrow – I LOVE IT!!
